About Our Tutors

Thomas Crawford
Standardized Test Tutor

Tommy Crawford received his B.A. with honors from Yale University in the spring of 2009, and has been boosting high school students’ standardized test scores across the tri-state area ever since.

At Yale, Tommy studied literature and theatre. He is an off-Broadway performer and member of The Bats, the resident acting company of the Flea Theater in Tribeca. He loves teaching writing, math, reading, and science, and uses his skills as a performer to make academic material relatable and fun. The best thing Tommy can think of to do as a tutor is to transcend the standardized tests and actually make an impact in the way a student thinks about a piece of writing, a math problem, English grammar, or an essay; that is, to improve the very way a student studies and thinks about the material he or she is learning.

Tommy graduated high school at the top of his class, was president of two school organizations, co-editor of The Pennant (Yogi Berra Museum newspaper), was a science scholar in the Weston Science Program, participated in winning Mock Trial teams, and had starring roles in his high school musicals and dramatic productions. He received the highest achievement award bestowed by his high school to a graduating senior. He was accepted at Yale, Brown, Columbia and other premiere colleges and universities.

Tommy also freelances as a writer, plays guitar and ukulele, plays tennis, is an avid baseball enthusiast, and occasionally farms.
